We are a team of computer scientists, teachers, researchers, and students who are passionate about teaching artificial intelligence. We are usually based at the Bioinformatics Laboratory at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, where we develop the Orange software, which we often use in education.
Over the past decades (has it really been that long already?), we have conducted hundreds of workshops and training sessions for teachers, pupils, high school students, university students, employees, and the general public. We constantly strive to translate technical terminology into simple language, and we aim to make our educational activities practical and intuitive. We believe that anyone can learn something about artificial intelligence, even if they are not comfortable with computers. That is why we have adapted quite a few activities into a “computer science without a computer” (so-called unplugged) format.
Each activity is tested multiple times before publication. Sometimes an idea does not work out, but mistakes are the best teacher. We equip our activities with instructions for educators and share our direct experiences. The most rewarding moment is when a teacher adopts an activity, reshapes it, and adapts it to their own needs.
We also thank Vanessa Hoff for contributing ideas during the redesign of the website. :)
