We Visited RINpijada

As part of the Innovative Pedagogy 5.0 project, teachers from across Slovenia have joined forces in so-called clusters – smaller groups of teachers who have spent years working on innovative ways to introduce primary school students to the foundations of computer science and critical thinking.

In April, one of these groups, the Pomurje Cluster, invited us to a truly special event. At Kajetan Kovič Primary School, they organized RINpijada, a playful name inspired by the Slovenian words for computer science and informatics (Računalništvo In Informatika) and Olympics (olimpijada). During the event, students worked in small teams and rotated between stations. At each one, they played educational games, solved puzzles, and tackled challenges that required logical reasoning, algorithmic thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

The day began with the symbolic lighting of the RINpijada flame, followed by the event anthem. Then came several hours filled with games, laughter, problem solving, and the exchange of ideas. We were deeply impressed by the creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm of the participating teachers, whose hard work made the event such a success. We were also delighted by a thoughtful gift: T-shirts that featured logos of all the participating schools.
