Monet versus Manet

Édouard Manet (1832) and Claude Monet (1840) were French painters and contemporaries during the Modernism period. A layperson can easily confuse them. In this activity, students - and later the computer - will try their hand at distinguishing between their works.

Relevance to everyday life

Learning about image recognition and related technologies is increasingly important in everyday life because these systems are all around us. From smartphones that automatically tag photos, to apps that identify plants or translate signs, to security cameras and self-driving cars, image recognition shapes how we interact with the world.

Connection with the curriculum

This activity belongs to art history: we explore the works and style of two painters.
