We are an international team of computer scientists, data science professors, education experts, developers, researchers, policymakers, and students passionate about bringing data exploration and data analysis skills to schools in Europe and beyond.

While the world is becoming increasingly data-driven, systematic data literacy education in primary schools in most European countries is lagging behind. To change this, we equip teachers with the skills, confidence, and tools to create a playful and curiosity-driven learning environment, where children can develop data literacy by diving straight into data and engaging with it hands-on, discovering what it can tell us about the world around us. We design and implement learning scenarios and materials, provide pilot teacher training, and we develop and adapt open-source data analytics software Orange Data Mining for use in schools.

Our team brings together people from SCRIPT (a service of the Luxembourgish Ministry of Education, Children and Youth), the University of Ljubljana, H2 Learning, the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Dublin West Education Centre, and Revelo.

Throughout the years, our efforts that started in Slovenia have been supported by Google.org, Tides Foundation, ARIS, the Slovene Government Service for Digital Transformation (now: Ministry for Digital Transformation), and the EU. In 2024, the initiative expanded beyond Slovenia and merged into the broader international Erasmus+ project (2024–2026), DALI4US, bringing data education to even more classrooms around the world.
